Hey, you found the articles page. Congratulations!

I passed my NCTJs in May '09 and since then I've written for a number of websites

and mags. Right now I'm a writer for What Laptop magazine.

A full archive of my previous freelance work and work experience can
be found

in the Archive section (surprisingly), but on this page you can check out

links to current work. Article updates will also be posted on

occasionally, when I remember. My memory sucks, though.

What Laptop Magazine

Do you love technology, especially the kind you can drag around with you on a

daily basis? The kind that lets you work on that crucial spreadsheet in the middle

of a packed commuter train, as a small child vomits on your sleeve and an

old lady plays footsie with you under the table?

Well, you should buy yourself a subscription to What Laptop magazine. Not only

that, you should buy a subscription for your lover / gran / dog. It's the gift that lasts

a lifetime (providing you keep renewing the subscription, of course).

Here's some info about the mag and what we do, and here's how to subscribe.

Like movies? You can watch them on the HP Envy 17. It's well good.

Suitably impressed by the new Samsung Q330 - it's all shiny and metallic
and stuff...

03/08/10

Just finished revamping the What Laptop buying guide on our website.
All this despite it being deadline week - I think I earned that pint of vodka...

Back from honeymoon, and straight back to work!

Do you have huge collections of dodgy media on your home PC, which you
wish you could take away with you on trips abroad? Well, the Dane Elec
myDitto plug-and-play server
might be just the thing for you.

Up to 4TB of storage which can be accessed remarkably easily from anywhere
on Earth (providing there's a Wi-Fi hotspot or phone mast somewhere near
of course).

Asus is biggin' up the environment with its new Bamboo laptop, and we've
had an exclusive play around with its firm woody goodness.

Also, Acer's come up with another Aspire, the 5553G, and given us a look.

You can win a set of Creative speakers by entering our competition online. Them
Creative folks are super nice, but then they do live in Singapore where it's summer
every day, so it's only natural they'd be jolly. The last time I was in Singapore, I was
attacked by a peacock and almost killed. But that's neither here nor there.

28/05/10

MSI gave us an exclusive look at their sexy new gaming machine, and my hand-on
review is now online.

27/05/10

Acer's highly strokeable new touch laptop turns into an iPad-style tablet with a flick
of your wrist. Check out my first impressions on the What Laptop website.

Dell chucked us an exclusive review unit of their new Precision M4500 workstation,
so I've added my initial thoughts to the website. I also managed to write a quick
article on HP's recent digital media survey.

News seems to be drying up lately, likely a result of the impending Computex
event in Taipei, but Acer did reveal their new HD laptop in a special event in
Cannes. An event I couldn't make sadly, but this weekend's weather is due to
be frickin' amazing, so time to crack out the string vest and suntan lotion.

Had a chat with Stephen Yeo, marketing director for Panasonic, and he revealed
the new Toughbook that's just coming out. Sounds like the perfect laptop for any
weirdos who like to, you know, climb mountains and stuff like that. Although I'm
pretty sure you can spill your madras on the keyboard and it'll still work fine.

Went to the British Museum for a Samsung press event, where they showed off the
new slim and light Q Series. And yes, folks, those dazzlingly professional shots you
can see by following the link were taken by yours truly. Contact me now for wedding
photography and suchforth.

Acer's upcoming multimedia monster the Aspire Ethos 8943G landed in our office
yesterday, and I had the chance to play around with it. Yep, watching films on a
sweet new piece of tech on a Friday afternoon, it's a hard life...

I also went to the Absolut Ice Bar for a PR event, and now I realise why you can only
go in for 40 minute time slots. After just 28 minutes I could no longer bend my fingers.

What's that? You're stuck in the flat all alone again, with a bottle of gin in one hand
and a half-eaten reheated burger in the other? Nothing better to do than watch
'Celebrity Come Dine With Me' and weep into your ever-expanding gut?

Well, why not read our review of the Dell Vostro V13? It might help you forget your woes,
at least for a few beautiful minutes.

Toshiba fans rejoice - there's four new consumer laptops from the technorific
heavyweight scuttling over the horizon like a shinier, flatter version of Clint Eastwood.
Read about the L650 and L670 multimedia models, the sexy new high-performance
A660
and the entry-level C650. Nice.

Anyone looking to mess around with their media should check out our review of
Nero Multimedia Suite 10, out in just over a week. You can do the usual disc-burning malarkey, but also edit your photos to give granny a variety of mustaches, then string
the whole lot into a hilarious and slightly creepy slideshow. Aces!

Also, Arnold Schwarzenegger has just brought out his own laptop, the T900. It's a
bulky beast that automatically spouts awful one-liners every thirty seconds for no
good reason, and wolf-whistles at your girlfriend / secretary / little cousin as she
passes by.

Hahaha, of course I jest, there's no such thing at all, it was all made up by my brain!
And you fell for it, like a huge glutinous blob of semelina! Happy April Fools...

[Legal disclaimer: Arnold Scwarzenegger has never wolf
whistled at your cousin. And his one-liners are awesome. I love you Arnie!]

My first two web articles went up this week. FIrstly, Sony gave me an exclusive look
at their new E-Series models, including a snazzy green number that will quite likely
get you noticed on the train. We also got their new M-Series netbook, and I had time
for a quick hands-on preview ahead of my full review.

More comin' at ya next week, kiddies...

Been a busy week finishing off issue 136 but it's all wrapped up. I'll hopefully be
writing for the website soon, so I'll start posting links once I do.
